SILICON VALLEY

THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Silicon Valley is very diverse but there are many common threads.  There is a true appreciation of the value placed on innovation, entrepreneurship, and hard work in terms of industry & labor. Recreation counts, too, though: enjoyment of the outdoors, the arts, the San Jose Sharks, local history, winemaking, volunteerism, school involvement, and dining out all rank as important, too.  In many areas, schools and school excellence are an extreme priority.

RECREATION

Kelley Park

One of the region's largest city parks is Kelley Park, a 163-acre green oasis running along Coyote Creek, just south of Downtown San Jose. The property, like many in Silicon Valley, was once home to fruit orchards and a farm owned by Louise Kelley.

Seven Seas Park

Recently completed, the 5.3 acre Seven Seas Neighborhood Park is now open to the public. The heavily favored Ocean theme, a result of extensive community meetings, was ultimately chosen in no small part for its unifying nautical theme which relates the park to nearby Tasman Crossing’s own maritime theme. Designed to resemble a shipping port, the park’s playgrounds and splash pad contribute to the neighborhood’s nautical character and create a destination-type attraction. The play area has two raised docks, an ADA-accessible boat structure, custom rock outcroppings, and boat masts with nautical flags for children to learn from. Additionally, shade canopies resembling boat sails provide protection from the intense summer sun, allowing for community use year-round.

Las Palmas Park

Las Palmas Park is envisioned as a “grand park” used and loved by many. From an expansive children's play area to recreational trails, soccer fields, and a skate park, the park will provide healthy outdoor opportunities for residents of all ages.
